REDCLIFFE, Brisbane’s youngest rugby league club, outplayed Valleys, the oldest, to win the BRL premiership grand final with a convincing 15-2 result at Lang Park.
The win was a triumph for Redcliffe captain-coach, Henry Holloway who cleverly led the Dolphins, who had only entered the BRL in 1960.
Spectacular winger, Kevin Yow Yeh scored two tries and brought the crowd to its feet every time he touched the ball.
But it was Redcliffe’s pack which laid the platform for victory with Arthur Beetson, George Gledhill and Col Raaen prominent in the rucks.
The attendance was 25,309.
Yow Yeh and Beetson were signed by Balmain on the basis of their performances in 1965.
