The Kangaroos defeated a Proud Languedoc-Rousillon selection 38-9 at the Stade d’Albert Domec in Carcassonne on the French section of their 1990 tour of the Northern Hemisphere.

The Languedoc-Rousillon region is the heartland of French rugby league and their rep. side put up a tougher fight then the French national team a few days earlier, with Australia winning that Test 60-4 in Avignon.

French referees are notoriously one-sided but on this occasion Marcel Chanfreau went relatively easy with the whistle, with penalties favoring the home side 13-6. Their only points came from four penalty goals and a field goal by Henri Gibert.

Brad Fittler scored two tries for Australia with Greg Alexander, John Cartwright, Andrew Ettingshausen, Allan Langer, Mark Sargent and Dale Shearer also crossing. Alexander landed only three conversions.

France had gone into the 1990 series against Australian full of confidence after having beaten Great Britain 25-18 in Leeds in April. But they came back to earth with a thud, losing the second Test against the Kangaroos 34-10 in Perpignan.
